It’s really easy caring for organic fabrics and they can last many years if a few simple rules are followed. And what’s even better, the recommended washing instructions for our organic cotton tea towels can have less impact on our environment too.

As organic fabrics are not treated with the same chemicals as other fabrics during the manufacturing process, they often don’t have the same protection as some other fabrics, for example they may be subject to excessive shrinkage if washed at temperatures that are too high.

So, follow these simple washing guidelines to get the best out of your organic cotton tea towels:-

• Wash organic fabrics at low temperatures (the best first wash is a cold wash)
• Use only gentle wash cycles
• Wash dark and light colours separately
• Use mild or non-perfumed detergents where possible
• Don’t tumble dry – just hang your organic fabrics on the line to dry naturally (this also saves energy and your hard earned money!)
• Don’t bleach the fabric, this can cause weakening and discolouration.
